Gary McCauley is the founder and CEO of Model Britain, a £45 million landmark attraction celebrating the innovation, heritage and culture of the United Kingdom in world-class miniature. With a background in engineering, entrepreneurship and large-scale technical systems, Gary leads the creation of this ambitious cultural venture with the precision of an engineer and the vision of a storyteller.
Inspired by Germany’s Miniatur Wunderland, Gary envisioned Model Britain as a new icon for the UK. It combines craftsmanship, cutting-edge automation and rich British storytelling into one of the most detailed model experiences ever built. Under his leadership, Model Britain has secured national media interest, entered into global broadcast discussions, and begun strategic sponsor conversations with Tier 1 partners including British Airways and Discovery Channel.
Gary’s career includes over two decades in systems engineering and complex infrastructure. This gives him a unique ability to manage multi-year builds and interdisciplinary teams. His leadership blends technical rigour with commercial strategy, aligning Model Britain’s creative ambitions with tangible business outcomes for sponsors and partners.
As the project moves toward its 2028 grand opening to mark the 80th birthday of King Charles III, Gary remains focused on building a lasting cultural legacy. One that celebrates Britain’s past, inspires its future and delivers extraordinary media and reputational value for the sponsors who help bring it to life.
