John Hoy - Model Britain

Through senior executive roles at Blenheim Palace, where he served as Chief Executive for 14 years, and at Castle Howard also as Chief Executive, John has led complex heritage environments that successfully combine conservation, commercial performance, education and public engagement.

A Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), John has extensive experience in estate management, visitor operations, capital projects and governance. This expertise is complemented by his service as a Board Member for Visit England from 2011 to 2019, during which he contributed to the national strategy for tourism development and destination growth. He has worked closely with trustees, landowners, local authorities, sponsors and cultural partners to develop sustainable business models that respect both place and purpose.

As a member of the Founding Advisory Board for Model Britain, John provides strategic guidance on viability, audience development, governance, and long-term resilience, helping to ensure the project is commercially realistic, sector-aligned, and built upon sound professional foundations.
